The player is challenged to analyze the statistics to determine (1) the winning team; (2) the score of the winning team; (3) the score of the losing team.
BOX SCORE CHALLENGE is played weekly- 10 new box scores will be posted each Friday 2:00 AM-EST; Players must enter and submit their best sports buff guesses online by the next Thursday 11:00PM -EST. The next day the player will see the results and rankings plus the next week’s 10 box scores.
Scoring
Weekly 10 Football box scores are provided to all players with the stats (first downs, rushing stats, passing stats, punting stats, return stats, total yards, fumbles, time of possession, third down conversions, etc.
The CHALLENGE
By analyzing the statistics the player makes three choices/picks. (1) The winning team-correct answer is worth 10 points. If incorrect, 0 points are awarded. In fact, no points can be awarded on that one box score if the winner is not chosen. (2) The number of points scored by the winning team-(a perfect pick awards 10 points ) one point will be subtracted for each point difference between the actual score and the guess. Example: winning score=21, guess=18. The difference is 3, thus 3 is subtracted from 10 resulting in scoring 7 points. (3) Picking the score of the losing team, perfect guess = 10 points. If not perfect, then minus one point for each point of difference between the correct score and the guess.
Example
Losers score=14, players guess=10. This results in a 4 point difference subtracted from 10=6 points awarded to the player. The sum of the three methods of scoring is 10+7+6=23points for this one box score. Remember a total of ten box scores will be provided weekly. A perfect score would be 300 points. At the end of the week when you get your new box scores, you will also get your score and your ranking. Also the team names, location, date, etc. will be listed for the previous week's box scores.
